Hard at work/Au travail!

Began working yesterday on my future home, as the owners are very kindly giving me access before I move in. With the inestimable help of a friend (I'd never manage without!), the place is going to be transformed. The first thing we did, on Friday, was to buy materials to make the balcony safe for the cats. While we were at it, we bought paint, rollers brushes etc, and yesterday, added a small sander. I already have a drill, a stapler and a screwdriver (all electric)
We began by taking up the carpet in what will be my bedroom. That was easy enough, but getting up the underlay took us all afternoon - though a sudden brilliant idea from Liliane enabled us to do the last three-quarters in half the time it had taken us to struggle over the first quarter!

Next stage, sanding the rather nice wooden floor we have uncovered, then cleaning the walls, painting them, and finally varnishing the floor. After that, same thing in the main room. The third room only needs the fitted carpet replacing with lino.

The cats will love the balcony - 5m40 long and 1m73 wide, and it will be completely protected with netting. I'm going to have a cat door fitted in one of the windows so they can have access whenever they like. I shall put the big breeding cage out on the balcony too, with a weather-proof cover over the top and beds and litter tray inside, so that they can stay out even in bad weather, if they want to. I think we're all going to be happy there!

And Pandora's first kittens will grow up there!

Travail commencé dans mon nouvel appartement, avec l'aide précieuse d'une amie - sans qui je n'arriverais jamais - merci Liliane! Nous avons commencé par acheter des matériaux pour sécuriser le grand balcon (5m40 sur 1m73) pour que les chats puissent sortir à leur guise. Je vais faire mettre aussi une chattière dans une fenêtre, et la grand cage d'élevage ira aussi dehors, avec une couverture étanche dessus, des lits et une caisse à litière dedans afin qu'ils aient la possibilité de rester dehors s'ils veulent, même quand il ne fait pas beau.

Hier nous avons enlevé la moquette dans une pièce, puis passé tout l'après midi à transpirer sur ce qui était dessous! Finalement, grâce à une idée brillante de Liliane, on a fini les trois quarts qui restaient dans la moitié du temps qu'il nous avait fallu pour le premier! Reste à poncer, nettoyer les parois, les peindre, puis vernir le plancher; ensuite, la même chose dans la pièce à côté. Le reste de l'appartement donnera beaucoup moins de travail. Je crois que nous allons être heureux dans notre nouveau foyer, les chats et moi!

Et les premiers chatons de Pandora grandiront là!

Moving/Déménagement

Later this morning, I sign the lease for the new place, effective from October 1st. I can't wait to leave here (by October 30th), though the thought of the work it entails is pretty daunting. My friends are being phenomenal - bless you all!

C'est décidé, aujourd'hui je signe le bail pour mon nouvel appartement, qui commence à partir du 1e octobre. Je suis impatiente de partir d'ici (d'ici le 30 octobre), malgré la pensée du travail qui m'attend. Mes amies sont fantastiques - merci, mes chères!

Changes/Changements

Following immediately on the death of my adored Cobber at the end of last month, circumstances have forced me to make several life-changes, the two main ones being a move (within the same commune) and a reduction in the number of my cats.

Staying with me are:

Beatrice, aged 13, spayed; enjoying a well-deserved retirement
Audrey, aged 3, spayed, who will continue a show career as a Spay
Pandora, 1 year at the beginning of last month, entire (and pregnant - due around September 27th) She will also continue her show career once her kittens are grown. If all goes well with this first litter, she will have more kittens in the future.

My beautiful Tora, still mine for now, has been welcomed with open arms by Cristina and Corinne, of "Les Feux de'Amour" Thank you so much, my dears, for the wonderful welcome, and the princely apartment you have prepared for him! He will soon be joined in his magnificent suite by a beautiful fiancée, Cassie des Feux de l'Amour.

Xandor, still happily living with Christophe in Monthey, is still my boy too, so long as he remains entire. His latest partner, Italian queen Canny, is expecting his kittens next month.
Little Nefret has gone to join her brother Emerson a few miles from here, and it seems they adore each other.

Bonnie will leave when a good home has been found for her, and she will be spayed.

As for the kittens, Darcy has gone to his new home with Daniel, as relaxed and "Mr. Cool" as ever; little Ida will go to Lucie and Joël at the end of this month; Phoebe will join Dark Chocolate (British LH Chocolate boy), at Dominique's in France about mid September. My little Casilda is still waiting for someone to fall in love with her..

Suivant le décès, à la fin du moi passé, de mon adoré Cobber, les circonstances m'ont forcée à faire plusieurs changements dans ma vie: je déménage (sur la même commune), et je réduis le nombre de mes chats.

Restent avec moi:

Beatrice, 13 ans , stérilisée, qui continuera à jouir d'une retraite bien méritée
Audrey, 3 ans, stérilisée qui continuera une carrière d'expo en Neutre.
Pandora, 1 année au début du mois passé, entière (et portante - chatons attendus autour du 27 septembre) Elle aussi continuera sa carrière d'expo. Si tout se passe bien avec cette première portée, elle restera entière et refera des chatons plus tard.

Mon beau Tora, toujours à moi pour l'instant, a été accueilli à bras ouverts par Cristina et Corinne, de la Chatterie "Les Feux de'Amour" Un très grand merci, mes chères, pour ce merveilleux accueil - et pour l'appartement princier que vous lui avez aménagé! Il sera bientôt rejoint par une belle fiancée, Cassie des Feux de l'Amour.

Xandor, toujours heureux chez Christophe à Monthey, reste aussi à moi, jusqu'à la fin de sa carrière d'étalon. Sa fiancée récente, l'Italienne Canny, attend des chatons de lui pour le mois prochain.


Ma petite Nefret est allée rejoindre son frère, Emerson, à quelques kilomètres d'ici, et il semble qu'ils s'adorent.

Bonnie partira dès qu'on lui aura trouvé une famille qui l'aimera, et elle sera stérilisée.

Pour les chatons: Darcy est parti chez Daniel, toujours aussi relax et "Mr. Cool" - un heureux caractère, ce petit bonhomme Bleu!; Princess Ida ira chez Lucie et Joël à la fin de ce mois; Phoebe rejoindra Dark Chocolate (British LH Chocolat), chez Dominique en France, vers la mi-septembre. Ma Casilda attend toujours que quelqu'un ait le coup de foudre pour elle.
